CLAIM YOUR LAND – BUT HOW?

For some time JREI has advised investors to be very cautious when making an investment in property that is situated on Native land. We looked in the past as such disasters (for investors) as Apex Alpine, Gustafson Lake, Chase and we placed Sun Peaks on investor alert a few years ago.

Again, we at JREI have no political axes to grind – we are only concerned with YOUR investment. Thus anything affecting such possible investment is of interest to us. We received a lot of flak on our call to watch out for investing at Sun Peaks, just as we received flak for warning about purchasing any and all land on ALL First Nations’ lands. The article which follows outlines in ‘scary’ detail, how we all may be affected by some of the latest BC Court of Appeal decisions. It is a MUST READ for anyone contemplating the development of property located on Native land.

Are there good bands and good developments? Can deals not be negotiated in good faith with some bands? Yes, of course. But an investor – a developer must have certainty … and therein lies the rub. Developers read and weep.
