Check Your (And Anyone Else's) Assessments And Property Values Here ... Free!
Go to BC Assessments On-Line www.bcassessment.bc.ca/asba2007/asba2.aspx and until March 15, 2007, you can check your assessments and all the assessments of any property you want to buy in the province of BC. FREE!!! They ALSO added a great new feature. Sales date sorted by area for homes that sold last year: www.bcassessment.bc.ca/sss2007/sss2.aspx
Good time to check it all out. Do it soon, the site will come down as last year! ALSO and more importantly (if you want to appeal your assessments) the 2006 Assessment Appeal deadline is January 31, 2007. The instructions for filing an appeal can be found on the back of the 2006 Property Assessment Notice. Appeals can be mailed, faxed or hand delivered. There is no appeal after that! Remember that assessments are based as of July 2nd, 2006, not today's value. If you challenge assessments, you need comparables from last July. This year comparable assessments of neighbouring properties are shown AS WELL AS THE SUBJECT PROPERTY ... as well as the SALES; a very useful resource.
