VICTORIA is the capital city of British Columbia, and is known as Canada's Best Bloomin' City! Springtime finds streets lined with blossoming trees and, during the summer, baskets brimming with flowers are hung on the city's 19th century style street lamps.

Other communities in the South Island include SIDNEY which offers the charm and character of a seaside town. Enjoy a number of water activities like scuba-diving, especially around an artificial diving reef. BRENTWOOD BAY home to attractions and the Brentwood Bay - Mill Bay Ferry Terminal. The SAANICH PENINSULA is a wonderful place to explore. Tour the Ocean Sciences Centre, or view the stars at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory. They say you go behind the "Tweed Curtain" when you enter OAK BAY. Watch cricket matches, stroll through rose gardens, or play a round at the first-class golf course overlooking the sea. ESQUIMALT is home to a Canadian Forces Base, and several waterfront parks, historic sites and attractions.

The WESTERN COMMUNITIES are made up of View Royal, Colwood, Langford, and Metchosin. Each has its own unique flavour. The community of VIEW ROYAL is one of the entrance of the 60 kilometers long Galloping Goose Trail, from this entrance it is 42 kilometers to the Sooke end of the Galloping Goose Trail. When in the community of COLWOOD visit Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Site, tour Fisgard Lighthouse or take walk along the Esquimalt Lagoon. LANGFORD a community popular for its many Regional Parks and outdoor activities. Go for a hike, play a round or two of golf, or go for a swim. A short drive to METCHOSIN and you will notice how quickly the scenery changes from city to rural. There is much to do in this small community, whether it is going fishing or horseback riding, there is something for all ages. SOOKE is a pleasant village and welcomes visitors to fish, enjoy the outdoor and explore its history, and farther along Highway 14 is PORT RENFREW, start of the world famous West Coast Trail. Visit Botanical Beach where colorful sea life fills tidal pools carved into a sandstone shelf.
