General Overview
"Sun Peaks is a resort community with a vision - "To be the B.C. Interior's finest destination resort before the turn of the century." Sun Peaks is a booming community located just 45 minutes north of Kamloops. A four phase real estate development programme has been launched to elevate Sun Peaks into a year-round recreation resort. Initial phases of this plan include: A full-service pedestrian village center consisting of a variety of tourist accommodation, restaurants, retail shops, conference facilities, and other services. A variety of recreation facilities including a par 72, 18-hole, 6,600 yard resort golf course, tennis courts, and outdoor pool and a hot tub, more than 20 kilometers of hiking and mountain biking trails, horseback riding, and indoor recreation and spa facilities. A combination of single family and multiple family real estate developments with either ski in/ski out or ski in/golf out access. Tod Mountain provides the alpine terrain for B.C.'s newest resort. In May 1995, the resort received Snow Country Magazine's "Best Trail and Slope Design" due to its well balanced and environmentally sensitive trail and slope designs. The mountain receives an annual snowfall of 449cm with some of the best powder skiing in the province; The average mountain temperature during the ski season is -5.46C. Skiing is not the only attraction at Sun Peaks Resort. There is golfing at the Graham Cooke designed golf course, helicopter tours, a myriad of recreational activities, and annual events including the Alpine Blossom Festival during late July and early August. Sun Peaks Resort is booming with construction of new on-hill accommodation and service facilities. Sun Peaks is well on its way toward becoming the number one destination resort in B.C.'s Interior.
